For The Chav Who Dreams Of Going Into Orbit

In Food, Science, World News on March 28, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Indian military scientists want to create curry that is edible in space. Basically, India is in a space race with China and Japan, and they want to feed the astronaut something that’s familiar.

That’s all you need to know, really. Other than that I think this is quite awesome.

Religious Defamation Is Freedom Of Speech, Bastards!

In Religion, World News on March 28, 2009 at 5:05 pm

The U.N. has made religious defamation a violation of Human Rights. Get. The. Fuck. Out.

Oooh, I’m so angry! People should be able to say whatever the hell they want regardless of political correctness! It’s a non-binding text, so it’s not that bad. But the fact that it even exists is ridiculous. This is the U.N.- they uphold Human Rights. Last I checked, Freedom of Speech was a basic Human Right! Hello, hypocrisy! How are you this afternoon? Me? I’m righteously outraged.

It was proposed by Pakistan on behalf of Islamic states. The OIC (Organisation of the Islamic Conference) said they had to find a “delicate balance” between freedom of expressions and respect for religions. Bull. Shit. A “delicate balance” can be interpreted a million different ways! How are they going to establish this balance? Or more importantly, who is going to establish this balance? The reason Freedom of Speech is a Human Right is because everyone has something different to say- you can’t put limits on that!

It was voted in, too! 23 states where in favour, 11 were not and 13 abstained. I’m hating those 13 most of all because that’s like having the ability to stop someone killing another and then just stepping back instead of doing something!

China Does It Again

In World News on March 26, 2009 at 11:16 pm

They’ve blocked YouTube. Because there is footage of Chinese security forces beating Tibetians.

This is not the first time China’s done something like this- the words ‘Tank Man’ and ‘1989’ hold no meaning to university students in Beijing. 1989 is just another year, and they don’t know who ‘Tank Man’ is. If you type the words ‘Tiananmen Square’ into Google in China, you won’t see the iconic photograph taken by Jeff Widener (like you would in America or the U.K. or most other places in the world), you’ll get about three pages of photographs of the Tiana’nmen.

It’s funny because there was a survey I read about, months ago, where China was, like, the third country with a happy population who thought that things were getting better.

Ignorance really is bliss for some people.
